Dr. Eric L. Hanson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA in 1994, where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed a Transitional Internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA and then served a four year military commitment in the US Navy as an Undersea Medical Officer in Groton, CT. While in the diving and submariner community, CDR Hanson received many medals and commendations; several of which were directly related to his service as a US Navy Diver as well as providing medical support for the TWA Flight 800 Salvage Operation off of the Long Island coast. Dr. Hanson completed his Dermatology Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was selected as the Chief Resident in 2002.
Dr. Hanson is a board certified dermatologist and is actively affiliated with the American Board of Dermatology, American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society of Mohs Surgeons.
Dr. Hanson commutes to work via bike or walking. Many weekends are spent with his wife, proudly watching their son Ethan compete at swim meets and keeping up with their young daughter Jane Catherine. He enjoys playing the guitar and brewing his own beer.
A native of Michigan, Dr. Heh Shin Kwak attended the University of Michigan, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science. She continued her education at the University of Michigan, later graduating from University of Michigan Medical School in 2005, during which she completed a research fellowship with the National Institutes of Health. She then completed a transitional year at MacNeal Hospital outside Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Kwak fulfilled her residency at Stanford University Department of Dermatology, serving as Chief Resident 2008-2009.
Dr. Heh Shin Kwak is a board certified dermatologist and is an affiliate of the American Board of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology.
When not in the office, Dr. Kwak enjoys cooking, baking and exploring activities in the great outdoors of her new home in Oregon. She enjoys rock climbing and hiking with her husband Phil.
Dr. Aaron Loyd is a native of Oklahoma where he attended the University of Oklahoma, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Letter/Classical Studies. He also received his medical degree from University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 2005, where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Loyd completed an Internal Medicine internship at the University of Oklahoma, followed by a Dermatology residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from 2006-2009. He then completed a Dermatopathology fellowship at New York University.
Dr. Loyd is a board certified dermatologist and board eligible dermatopathologist.
He is actively affiliated with the American Board of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Loyd enjoys spending time with his wife Ania and daughter Sophie. He is an avid bicycle commuter and his hobbies include architecture and botany. Dr. Loyd is looking forward to his life and career in his new hometown of Portland, Oregon.
Craig graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and spent 5 years working in several emergency departments in central Washington and the Portland/Vancouver area. He then attended Washington State University, graduating with a Masters in Nursing in 2001, specializing in Family Medicine. He originally worked for Kaiser Permanente in Internal Medicine and Urgent Care and then worked as a same day clinician at the Vancouver Clinic. Craig has had extensive training by and works closely with Dr. Hanson. He has been a member of the Knott Street Dermatology family since June 2007. Craig is an avid bicycle commuter and enjoys spending his free time with his wife Michelle and their young son.
